About The Position

We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager / Senior Manager whose primary focus will be driving growth in the East Coast US, while also supporting business development activities across North America. You will be joining a newly created, North American territory Business Development team, and in close collaboration with the Senior Director of Scientific Alliances, you will be responsible for proactively growing RoukenBio’s customer base within the North America. You will join RoukenBio at an exciting stage in its growth journey, and be instrumental in expanding awareness of RoukenBio in North America. As a key representative of the Company, you will develop RoukenBio’s reputation in North America as the most trusted research partner for biotherapeutic and immunotherapy development. You will have a strong scientific background, in a relevant discipline and be comfortable in navigating the drug development lifecycle. Located in Boston, MA, you will be expected to secure face to face meetings with companies that represent RoukenBio’s ideal customer profiles (ICPs). Using your scientific background, coupled with commercial mindset, you will be capable of leading and guiding credible discussions with key scientific stakeholders, allowing you to appropriately create and qualify opportunities independently. While highly science-facing and collaborative in nature, one important focus of this role is proactive new business generation and territory growth. This is a hunter-oriented role for someone energized by identifying, opening, and converting new opportunities, while building long-term scientific partnerships with biotech and pharmaceutical teams.

Requirements

  • The right to work in the USA.
  • PhD in Immunology, Biology, Oncology, or related field (MSc/BSc considered with relevant experience).
  • Deep understanding of pre-clinical research within immunology, oncology or biologics-based therapeutic development
  • An individual who is energised by interacting with new people and possesses a high EQ and exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Based in Boston, or within commuting distance to Boston.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within the US (30-50% of time) and on occasion, to HQ in Scotland.
  • Excellent scientific communication and presentation skills
  • Highly collaborative, proactive, entrepreneurial, and strongly motivated by new business generation and commercial growth
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-moving environment with a strong hunter mentality and ownership mindset
  • Passionate about scientific excellence coupled with a high level of emotional intelligence (EQ) and the ability to see things from other’s perspective.

Nice To Haves

  • Existing network of biotech and pharma contacts and/or demonstrable ability to grow and nurture a network of key contacts.
  • 1-4+ years in life sciences or biotech business development, with proven track record in sales growth and market expansion
  • Skilled in influencing, negotiation, pricing, and profitability management.
  • Ability to translate scientific concepts and offerings into business value
  • Ability to connect scientific insights to market needs and to clearly articulate the value proposition and to support commercial strategy.
  • Experience with relevant software (e.g. LinkedIn, HubSpot, ZoomInfo).
  • Experience working within a CRO/Biotech/Pharma environment

Responsibilities

  • Independently identify, develop and nurture new business opportunities across North America (in particular, East Coast US).
  • Apply scientific and commercial expertise to engage and qualify prospective clients.
  • Build and manage a robust pipeline of opportunities aligned with RoukenBio’s growth targets.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling presentations and proposals to engage prospective customers and expand RoukenBio’s value proposition.
  • Collaborate with internal scientific and operational teams to develop tailored, value-driven proposals.
  • Represent RoukenBio at local and major industry events and prospect meetings in the US (30–50% travel).
  • Ensure market feedback and intelligence flow into innovation and marketing planning.
  • Use CRM and data tools to track performance, inform strategy, and report progress. Making necessary adjustments based on real time data.
  • Work closely with the commercial team (CBO, Regional Directors, CSM Director, Head of Marketing) to develop commercial and marketing strategies, as well as improving messaging and scientific/marketing material.
  • Uphold RoukenBio’s values in all interactions, representing RoukenBio with professionalism, integrity, and alignment to company values
