About The Position

SDV Construction is hiring a Business Development Manager (Construction) to support strategic growth across Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, and the broader New Mexico market, including some out-of-state opportunities. This role is ideal for a professional experienced in commercial construction business development, client development, and project pursuit strategy. The ideal candidate understands how to identify, qualify, and win the right work in a competitive general contractor environment. You will manage the full construction project pursuit lifecycle, from early-stage relationship building and market engagement through preconstruction alignment and contract award.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of construction business development experience with a general contractor or commercial builder
  • Proven success in construction sales, project pursuit, and winning commercial work
  • Strong knowledge of preconstruction, estimating, and construction delivery methods (CMAR, Design-Build, Hard Bid)
  • Experience with pipeline management and CRM systems (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Established relationships within Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, or the broader Southwest construction market

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage a construction pipeline of qualified commercial projects across Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Rio Rancho, and surrounding markets
  • Lead project pursuit strategy, including go/no-go decisions, opportunity qualification, and risk analysis
  • Drive client development with owners, developers, architects, engineers, stakeholders, and public agencies throughout New Mexico
  • Coordinate with preconstruction, estimating, and operations teams to align scope, schedule, and pricing strategy
  • Execute winning strategies for CMAR, Design-Build, and Hard Bid opportunities
  • Maintain accurate data in CRM systems, including pipeline tracking, forecasting, and reporting
  • Support proposal development, interviews, and presentation strategy to improve win rates
