The Associate of Business Development identifies prospective stakeholders and creates an effective strategy that moves prospects through the sales process efficiently and effectively. They work closely with district teams to craft a comprehensive bond program tailored to the district's objectives. They facilitate productive committee meetings and engagements, fostering collaboration and community involvement. Their role is to convey proposed solutions effectively while also contributing to bond collateral development.

Requirements

  • Understanding of the construction sector, including industry trends, project phases, and terminology.
  • Knowledge and ability to gather, interpret, and utilize industry-specific market intelligence for strategic decision-making.
  • Knowledge in developing persuasive, high-quality proposals, bids, and presentations that align with stakeholder needs and company capabilities.
  • Understanding of the proposal development processes specific to construction projects.
  • Dedication to understanding and meeting stakeholder needs, and expectations, and delivering exceptional stakeholder experiences.
  • Familiarity with organizing meetings from scheduling to reporting summaries to leadership.
  • Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software for stakeholder relationship management (SalesForce).
  • Effective strategic planning and critical thinking skills to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities.
  • Effective problem-solving skills to address complex challenges and find innovative solutions.
  • Effective organizational skills to manage contact lists, calendars, and records efficiently.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to changing business development strategies and priorities.
  • Proficiency in data analysis to make data-driven decisions and refine business development strategies.
  • Efficiently monitors timelines and facilitates team coordination.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and SalesForce.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Business, Marketing and/or Public Relations
  • 4+ years in Business Development, a combination of education and work experience will also be considered in lieu of a degree.

Responsibilities

  • Begin building relationships with educational institutions, school districts, and potential stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, board members, teachers, parents, and community organizations to build support, and leverage their expertise and input to enhance the bond proposal and incorporate their perspectives into the decision-making process.
  • Lead the planning and managing public/town hall meetings, ensuring they are well-organized and informative, and provide opportunities for meaningful community engagement.
  • Develop compelling and targeted marketing campaigns on behalf of the district, utilizing various channels to effectively reach and engage the target audience.
  • Facilitate productive committee meetings, fostering open communication, collaboration, and consensus-building among stakeholders involved in the bond program.
  • Conduct research and analysis to identify potential stakeholders, educational institutions, and projects within the education construction sector.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a business development team, supporting colleagues and senior professionals.
  • Work with leadership to create an effective strategy that moves prospects through the sales process efficiently and effectively.
  • Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and educational events alongside senior business development professionals to expand industry knowledge and network with potential stakeholders and partners.
  • Assist in lead generation efforts by researching and identifying potential leads, attending industry events, and leveraging online resources.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of project needs, considering factors such as infrastructure requirements, budget constraints, and stakeholder expectations, to inform the development of successful solutions.
  • Collaborate with the proposal team to assist in the preparation of proposals, bids, and presentations, including gathering relevant information and documentation.
  • Identify and outline a comprehensive bond program, carefully considering the objectives and requirements of the district to maximize its effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development of bond collateral to support and enhance the marketing and communication efforts of the bond program.
  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations that effectively convey the proposed solutions, showcasing their benefits and addressing any potential concerns.
  • Maintain and update stakeholder databases, project records, and contact information to ensure accuracy and accessibility for business development efforts.
  • Assist in generating reports and summaries related to business development activities, lead tracking, and stakeholder interactions.
  • Observe and communicate opportunities to improve and optimize business development processes and strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
