About The Position

Odyssey is seeking a Business Development Associate – Air Force to support the company’s growth across the U.S. Air Force market. This individual will help identify, develop, and capture new business opportunities while building and maintaining relationships with Air Force customers, program offices, industry partners, and other key stakeholders. The ideal candidate will bring 5–7 years of experience in business development, capture, account management, or growth within the Air Force market, with a strong understanding of Air Force organizations, acquisition processes, mission priorities, and the defense contracting environment. This is a highly collaborative role requiring a combination of customer engagement, market intelligence, opportunity development, pipeline management, and proposal/capture support. What Success Looks Like: Within the first 6–12 months, the successful candidate will have developed a strong understanding of Odyssey's capabilities, established relationships with key Air Force stakeholders, identified and qualified new opportunities, expanded the company's Air Force pipeline, and contributed meaningfully to capture and growth activities.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance, if required by assigned programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, government, marketing, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of professional experience in business development, capture management, sales, program management, or a related growth function supporting the U.S. Air Force.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Air Force acquisition and contracting environment.
  • Established relationships or familiarity with Air Force program offices, organizations, and acquisition stakeholders.
  • Experience identifying and qualifying government business opportunities.
  • Experience supporting proposals, captures, RFIs, Sources Sought responses, or other federal business development activities.
  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior executives, government customers, technical teams, and industry partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Active or recently active Secret or higher security clearance.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, government, marketing, or a related field.
  • 7+ years of professional experience in business development, capture management, sales, program management, or a related growth function supporting the U.S. Air Force.
  • Existing relationships within Air Force program offices or major Air Force installations.
  • Experience supporting Air Force acquisition organizations and/or Program Executive Offices.
  • Experience with IDIQs, GWACs, BPAs, OTAs, GSA vehicles, and other federal contracting mechanisms.
  • Experience with Air Force modernization, acquisition, engineering, logistics, IT, cybersecurity, systems engineering, or mission support programs.
  • Familiarity with Air Force budget and planning processes.
  • Experience working for a federal government contractor.
  • Customer-focused – able to develop trusted relationships and understand customer mission needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute business development strategies focused on growth within the U.S. Air Force.
  • Identify, qualify, and track new business opportunities across Air Force organizations and program offices.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with Air Force customers, government stakeholders, industry partners, and teaming organizations.
  • Monitor Air Force budgets, acquisition plans, solicitations, recompetes, and emerging mission requirements to identify potential opportunities.
  • Support the development and management of the Air Force business development pipeline and opportunity forecasts.
  • Conduct customer research and develop account strategies for priority Air Force organizations and programs.
  • Coordinate with technical, program management, contracts, pricing, and executive leadership teams to develop competitive solutions.
  • Support capture activities, including customer engagement, competitive intelligence, win strategy development, teaming, and solution shaping.
  • Contribute to responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), Sources Sought notices, White Papers, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and other government opportunities.
  • Represent Odyssey at industry days, conferences, government-industry events, and customer meetings.
  • Maintain accurate opportunity information and customer engagement activities within the company's CRM system.
  • Provide regular business development updates, pipeline reports, and market intelligence to company leadership.
  • Identify potential strategic partners and develop teaming relationships that strengthen Odyssey Systems' Air Force offerings.
