About The Position

As a member of CIBC’s team, the Business Consultant is responsible for delivering projects for CIBC Global Asset Management (GAM) of various degrees of complexity as part of a team of Business Consultants and Project Managers. This role is engaged from end to end, including initiation, requirement gathering, design, construction, testing, implementation, and closure. The role works with a Project Manager on complex projects, providing support on documenting requirements and solution design. For less complex projects, a dual role is required, encompassing both Business Consultant and Project Manager responsibilities. In addition, this role supports a number of Business As Usual (BAU) maintenance activities, including marketing and sales support, client statement issues, product issues, operational efficiencies, and periodic business activities such as execution of investment management changes, PFIC reporting, portfolio rebalancing, and portfolio manager changes. This delivery team’s primary focus is executing GAM’s strategic business roadmap and driving continuous improvement in daily processes.

Requirements

  • 1-5 years’ experience in Business Analysis and/or Project Management.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the practices, procedures, and principles required to successfully deliver projects, from planning to implementation.
  • Ability to analyze detailed concepts, resolve project issues, and assess the advantages and disadvantages of solutions.
  • A degree/diploma in a related field of study.
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Teams, Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Visio.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering projects for CIBC Global Asset Management (GAM) of various degrees of complexity.
  • Working with a Project Manager on complex projects, providing support on documenting requirements and solution design.
  • Performing dual Business Consultant and Project Manager responsibilities for less complex projects.
  • Supporting Business As Usual (BAU) maintenance activities including marketing and sales support, client statement issues, product issues, and operational efficiencies.
  • Managing periodic business activities such as execution of investment management changes, PFIC reporting, portfolio rebalancing, and portfolio manager changes.
  • Executing GAM’s strategic business roadmap.
  • Driving continuous improvement in daily processes.
  • Developing and documenting optimal business solutions to achieve key business objectives.
  • Leading discussions to investigate current processes, identify constraints, and outline options for informed business decisions.
  • Outlining project goals, terms of reference, resource requirements, timing, and costs.
  • Ensuring all stakeholders have a voice on the project and clarity in their roles, activities, and timelines.
  • Helping internal partners make informed decisions about the development of programs, products, and services.
  • Proactively identifying risks to the project schedule and finding ways to mitigate them.
  • Monitoring milestones and ensuring they are completed according to timelines and budgets.
  • Sharing ideas, building consensus, and writing with impact.
  • Chairing meetings and following up with the right level of information based on the audience.
  • Developing trusted working relationships with business stakeholders and technology partners.
