About The Position

The City of Chandler Management Services Department is seeking qualified individuals to join their team as a Business Compliance Representative. This role involves providing general information and taxpayer education to the public and business owners regarding compliance with City and State regulations. Responsibilities include processing business registrations, special regulatory licenses, and transaction privilege (sales) tax activities; performing a variety of technical business licensing and tax-related tasks; enforcing applicable state statutes; and serving as a liaison with external agencies. The position also conducts field verifications of licenses and business activities. Work is performed primarily in an office setting, with occasional visits to commercial business locations to conduct field inspections and verifications.

Requirements

  • A High School Diploma or GED supplemented with college course work in Accounting, Bookkeeping or other Business Applications
  • 2 years of clerical experience in a bookkeeping or accounting environment including some experience with municipal or state regulations
  • A valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a subject area related to regulatory oversight by Federal Law (statutes or ordinances) dealing with code and regulatory compliance
  • Previous experience working with accounting software programs
