About The Position

As a Business (Commercial) Controller, you will be the financial business partner for the commercial organization. You will support and advise the business in steering on margin, return, and profitability within MediaMarkt Benelux. You will do more than just report on results: you will actively help improve them. Together with Category Management and Commercial Leadership, you will identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and translate financial insights into commercial actions that contribute to growth and profitability. You understand the story behind the numbers, see the opportunities behind the strategy, and know which actions are needed to make an impact. Whether it concerns Goods Income, supplier agreements, margin development, or inventory performance, you will support the business daily in making better commercial decisions.

Requirements

  • HBO or WO degree in Finance, Business Economics, Controlling, or a comparable field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience in Business Control, Commercial Finance, or a comparable financial role.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial finance, margin management, and profitability steering.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel and SAP; experience with Power BI or comparable analysis tools is a plus.
  • Experience collaborating with commercial stakeholders and influencing decision-making.
  • Good command of the Dutch and English languages.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within retail, FMCG, wholesale, or another commercially driven organization is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Steering and improving commercial performance by identifying opportunities, risks, and improvement actions in the areas of revenue, margin, Goods Income, and profitability.
  • Acting as a financial business partner for Category Management and Commercial Leadership, supporting decision-making with sharp analyses and factual insights.
  • Coordinating forecasting, budgeting, and performance processes, and translating financial results into concrete improvement actions that contribute to strategic objectives.
  • Analyzing supplier agreements, category performance, and commercial initiatives, and translating them into actions that optimize margin, Goods Income, and profitability.
  • Continuously improving processes by standardizing reports, simplifying processes, and increasing automation, so the organization can focus more on steering than on reporting.
