About The Position

The Business Central Techno-Functional Analyst serves as a key resource for supporting, improving, and extending Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central across core business operations. This role combines functional business process knowledge, end-user support, configuration, reporting, and light-to-moderate technical capability to help ensure Business Central remains stable, effective, and aligned with business needs. This individual will partner closely with stakeholders across Sales, Purchasing, Finance, Inventory, and Warehouse Operations to troubleshoot issues, improve workflows, document requirements, support reporting needs, and coordinate system enhancements. The role will also assist with BC extension support, release coordination, integrations, and technical documentation, while helping drive adoption, process consistency, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate brings a strong customer-service mindset, hands-on Business Central experience, and the ability to translate business requirements into practical system solutions.

Requirements

  • Strong functional knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central / Dynamics NAV
  • Working knowledge of BC extension architecture, AL development concepts, and upgrade-safe customization practices
  • Ability to troubleshoot business process issues across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, record-to-report, inventory, and warehouse workflows
  • Experience supporting end users in a fast-paced ERP environment with strong responsiveness and follow-through
  • Understanding of reporting tools, layouts, and ERP data structures
  • Familiarity with integrations using APIs, OData, SOAP, or middleware solutions
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple requests, priorities, and deadlines
  • Customer-first mindset with patience, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • 5–7+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV and/or Dynamics 365 Business Central
  • Experience supporting Business Central in a techno-functional, functional analyst, systems analyst, or ERP support role
  • Demonstrated understanding of Sales, Purchasing, Finance/Accounting, Inventory Planning, and Warehouse Management processes within BC
  • Experience creating or modifying reports, workflows, pages, queries, and related BC objects/configurations
  • Exposure to AL development, extensions, and Business Central customization best practices
  • Experience with production support, incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and issue documentation
  • Strong documentation, testing, and business requirements gathering skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with BC APIs, OData/SOAP web services, and related integration methods preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Business, Supply Chain, Accounting, or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Business Central Functional Support & Administration Serve as a day-to-day Business Central resource for end users across core operational and financial workflows.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to transactions, posting, permissions, master data, system configuration, and process flow.
  • Support business users across the following areas: Sales & Customer Management: quotes, orders, invoices, pricing, discounts, credits, and collections Purchasing & Vendor Management: requisitions, purchase orders, approvals, invoices, and returns Finance & Accounting: general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, posting setup, dimensions, bank reconciliations, fixed assets, and financial reporting Inventory Planning: item setup, replenishment policies, planning parameters, planning worksheets, forecasting inputs, safety stock, and reorder points Warehouse Management: receiving, put-away, picking, shipping, bin setup, inventory movements, adjustments, and basic/advanced warehouse processes
  • Monitor recurring issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective or preventive actions.
  • Help maintain system integrity through strong documentation, process discipline, and change control.
  • Drive standardization of business processes across functions while enabling scalable growth.
  • Assist with configuring, extending, and optimizing Business Central to support evolving business requirements.
  • Support the design, testing, and maintenance of upgrade-safe BC extensions and customizations.
  • Create or modify pages, queries, reports, workflows, role centers, and related configurations as needed.
  • Partner with internal teams and external development resources on enhancements, break-fix support, and release readiness.
  • Contribute to technical documentation, test plans, release notes, and solution validation.
  • Participate in code review and solution review processes when applicable.
  • Help evaluate and refine system processes to improve efficiency, data quality, and user experience.
  • Reporting, Integrations & Process Improvement Support BC reporting needs through standard reports.
  • Assist with data exports, controlled data sharing, and reporting process improvements.
  • Support integrations using Business Central APIs, web services, and middleware tools in coordination with technical resources.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, automate manual tasks, and reduce operational friction.
  • Requirements, Testing & Delivery Support Gather business requirements and help translate them into clear functional specifications and actionable system changes.
  • Participate in fit-gap analysis, solution design discussions, and prioritization of enhancement requests.
  • Coordinate and support user acceptance testing, issue tracking, deployment readiness, and end-user communication.
  • Ensure enhancements and support activities follow internal controls, security requirements, and audit standards.
  • Develop training materials, quick-reference guides, FAQs, and user documentation to improve adoption and consistency.
