About The Position

The Business Banking Underwriter IV is responsible for underwriting Business Banking loans to determine credit worthiness and compliance with Bank lending policy. Loans would typically include those with the most complex credit structures and customer exposure up to $10MM. This role utilizes single approval authority up to $4MM and appropriately assesses the risk profile of the borrower. The Underwriter IV will also assist with training and mentoring new hires, provide support for other underwriter job families, and act as a primary backup for their manager in team huddles and meetings. This position is expected to represent their direct manager outside of the function group as needed and collaborate with credit and segment risk to meet or exceed department goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 7+ years’ experience with business or commercial underwriting in a centralized lending environment

  • Ability to underwrite credit exposures in excess of $4MM.
  • Previous authority to underwrite and decision credits without additional signers.

Responsibilities

  • Supports Business Banking production by maintaining an individual pipeline of work.
  • Reviews all financial and credit application information to make sound credit decisions.
  • Assists with training and mentoring new hires.
  • Provides support for the UWI, UW II & UW III job families as needed.
  • Performs other duties as needed to support the line of business and job family.
  • Acts as primary back up for their manager as needed for team huddles & meetings.
  • Represents direct manager outside of function group as needed.
  • Collaborates with both credit and segment risk to meet or exceed department goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
