This role involves cultivating, building, and managing relationships with a portfolio of small business clients to build a pipeline of new business and increase BMO’s market share. The manager applies professional consultative sales and business development practices and techniques for an assigned jurisdiction/portfolio. They actively identify opportunities and refer to BMO colleagues as appropriate, proactively developing and executing sales strategies to attract new business clients and expand existing relationships. The position requires developing internal and external networks and referral sources, generating appointments, and executing a business plan for customer retention. Key aspects include identifying prospective customers, cross-selling products, developing client rapport, understanding the local market, and delivering exceptional customer service. The role also involves developing solutions, providing advice, monitoring performance, coordinating database management, and leading or participating in change management activities. The incumbent must follow security and safeguarding procedures, maintain confidentiality, and identify/mitigate risks in accordance with Bank policies and ethical standards. The focus is primarily on business/group within BMO, with the ability to work independently on complex tasks and exercise judgment to solve problems.
