About The Position

The Business Banking Officer I is a self-sufficient, client-facing role responsible for managing a portfolio of small business members, developing new relationships, and delivering both lending and deposit solutions. This position is ideal for professionals with foundational experience in lending, credit, or financial services who are ready to independently manage production goals, deepen member engagement, and grow within the business banking function.

Requirements

Minimum 1-2 years in small business or commercial lending, loan operations, credit support, or financial services sales.
Working knowledge of credit principles, business loan structures, and financial statement analysis.
Self-motivated and goal-oriented with the ability to manage work independently.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to use CRM and loan origination systems effectively.
Commitment to member service and continuous learning in business banking.
Valid driver’s license required.
Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.

Nice To Haves

Basic knowledge of credit administration and credit quality.
Demonstrated understanding of basic financial accounting and analysis.

Responsibilities

Manage a portfolio of small business members, acting as their primary point of contact for lending and deposit needs.
Identify and pursue new lending and deposit opportunities within assigned territory or portfolio.
Perform initial credit assessments, including reviewing financial statements, and preparing loan requests.
Coordinate with credit and loan administration to facilitate loan approvals, closings, and post-closing follow-up.
Meet or exceed established individual production and portfolio growth goals.
Respond promptly to member inquiries and provide consistent high-quality service.
Maintain up-to-date documentation, pipeline records, and portfolio monitoring activities including renewals and reviews.
Participate in community and networking events to promote Mazuma’s small business offerings.
Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Follow established company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Sarbanes Oxley controls, Business Ethics and Standard of Conduct, Electronic Communications, Confidentiality and Privacy.
