About The Position

The Business Banking Loan Specialist is responsible for all aspects of business banking and Small Business Administration (SBA) loan origination and closing, ensuring compliance with credit policies, legal requirements, and organizational standards. This role involves coordinating loan application packages, reviewing financial and business entity documents, completing collateral due diligence, and funding loans. Additionally, the Specialist serves as a key resource for members and team members by mentoring, training, and addressing technical issues related to loan processing. This role plays a vital role in ensuring the success of small business banking by delivering exceptional service, maintaining accurate records, and supporting the operational goals of the department. The Business Banking Loan Specialist reports to the Senior Manager of Business Banking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field, or 4+ years of equivalent experience in business banking loan processing and closing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in loan origination, processing, and closing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements in small business banking.
  • Experience with process improvement and project management to enhance operational efficiencies.
  • Must be bondable

Responsibilities

  • Review incoming new loans and file documents in nCino, ensuring all necessary items are included for processing and funding.
  • Ensure compliance processes for new and existing members, including Beneficial Ownership and Know Your Customer information.
  • Verify that all processing information meets legal and regulatory requirements and organize documents in appropriate files.
  • Coordinate vehicle and equipment transactions with dealers and retailers, collect purchase orders, invoices, and review collateral information.
  • Assist members with establishing memberships for new accounts.
  • Track applications in process and follow up with members as needed to complete missing loan requirements.
  • Verify all required SBA documentations are complete and in compliance with SBA Standard Operating Procedure.
  • Produce loan closing documents using LaserPro, ensuring they match the approved loan terms.
  • Verify that all required documents are obtained before finalizing loans for closing.
  • Dispatch and track the execution of loan documents via DocuSign.
  • Ensure liens, including UCCs and titles, are perfected during the closing process.
  • Oversee and manage loan fees and related documentation in accordance with policy.
  • Input all necessary documents and coding into SBA’s portal for approval of loan and issuance of loan number.
  • Book loans into the core system (Symitar) in accordance with signed loan documentation.
  • Facilitate the disbursement of loan proceeds, providing clear instructions to the loan servicer.
  • Monitor and resolve member and team inbound servicing requests, including payoff letters and payment transfers.
  • Perform monthly reconciliation of Small Business Banking’s GAP & MPP policy payments and premium revenue.
  • Maintain collateral files and ensure proper archiving of all documentation.
  • Coordinate activities necessary in the liquidation of SBA-pledged collateral under the direction of Senior Portfolio Manager.
  • Review and approve loan documents prior to closing, ensuring compliance with underwriting covenants, internal policies, and all applicable regulations.
  • Conduct thorough quality control checks to confirm booked loans meet compliance standards and organizational guidelines.
  • Verify the accuracy of loan details in core systems, including loan terms, collateral records, and funding instructions.
  • Collaborate with team members to resolve discrepancies and improve processing accuracy through feedback and training.
  • Manage project-based and process change for projects, optimizing and improving operational processes
  • Schedule and document meetings, maintain timelines, and track progress
  • Coordinate business partners to gather necessary inputs and impacts and keep partners informed as changes impact our interactions
  • Create documentation of process improvements, ensuring departmental clarity and consistency
  • Mentor and train team members on technical aspects of loan processing and closing.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to update loan rates and ensure accuracy in processing systems.
  • Partner with the Senior Manager on process improvement initiatives to enhance member experience and operational efficiency.
