About The Position

The Business Applications Developer, part of the Tech & AI team, designs, builds, and supports custom internal applications, dashboards, reports, data structures, and automations that help project teams, preconstruction, self-perform, and corporate functions work more efficiently. The role partners with business program owners to translate real workflows into reliable tools and serves as the technical owner for assigned programs. The successful candidate combines software and data fundamentals with the ability to build efficiently using modern AI-assisted development tools, while reviewing, testing, explaining, and maintaining all delivered work. The role covers the full program lifecycle, from discovery and proof of concept through beta, launch, support, and retirement. It also includes following Tech & AI build standards, coordinating security reviews for new technologies and connections, complying with data-handling rules and client restrictions on AI tools, supporting testing and user training, tracking program usage and time-saved metrics, and advising on power-user-built dashboards and automations.

Requirements

1–3 years of experience building business applications, dashboards, or automations, preferably in construction, engineering, or another project-based industry.
A demonstrated portfolio of tools built and supported, with the ability to explain the data model, architecture, and tradeoffs without relying on AI assistance.
Self-motivation and the ability to work well with multidisciplinary teams in a deadline-driven environment.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps and Power Automate), Power BI, SharePoint, Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Primavera P6, and Bluebeam.
Experience with a cloud platform.
Experience with AI-assisted development.

Responsibilities

Design, build, and maintain custom internal business applications, such as CRM, data-entry, scheduling, and tracking tools, to replace manual and spreadsheet-based processes.
Develop dashboards and reports that make project, financial, and operational data clear and usable for project teams and leadership.
Design and maintain data structures, including data models, databases, and lists, that support applications and reporting.
Build automations and integrations between systems, including Procore, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Primavera P6, and Microsoft 365, using APIs, connectors, and workflow tools.
Use AI-assisted development tools, including Claude, while reviewing, testing, understanding, and documenting generated code, prompts, and agents.
Partner with business program owners to conduct discovery, define requirements and measurable success criteria, and translate field and office workflows into working solutions.
Serve as technical owner for assigned programs through discovery, proof of concept, beta, launch, support, and retirement.
Follow Tech & AI build standards, including version control, pre-release testing, required documentation, and secure handling of API keys, service accounts, and connectors.
Prepare security review submissions with Panattoni Tech for new technology or connections, and follow data-handling rules and client restrictions on AI tools.
Triage and resolve bug reports and enhancement requests, and maintain programs after launch.
Support beta testing, rollout, and user training by providing technical input, documentation, and quick reference guides in partnership with the Technical Enablement Lead.
Track usage and time-saved metrics for owned programs and report results to program owners and Tech & AI leadership.
Advise and review power-user-built dashboards and automations to confirm they comply with established guardrails.
Evaluate new tools, platforms, and techniques, and recommend when to build, buy, or retire a solution.
