Business and Personal Finance Coordinator (Part-Time, ~20 hrs/week)

BrightStar Care of Santa Barbara and W. Ventura CountiesSanta Barbara, CA
$50 - $70Hybrid

About The Position

We are a home health care business seeking an experienced, hands-on finance professional to help organize and coordinate our business and household finances on a part-time basis (approximately 20 hours per week). This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being the “financial quarterback” rather than a back-office bookkeeper—someone who can connect the dots between accounting, tax, banking, and personal planning, and make sure nothing falls through the cracks. The work includes “CFO-level” insight and coordination, without being a C suite title.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles (e.g., controller, finance manager, FP&A, or similar).
  • Comfortable working with small-business financials.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting, cash flow, budgeting, and tax coordination.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented; able to create structure and follow through without constant supervision.
  • Able to explain financial concepts clearly to a non-financial owner.
  • High integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with service businesses or healthcare.
  • Ability to work effectively with a CPA (you do not need to be a CPA).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate tax and accounting activities, including working with CPA and tax preparer for organized, complete, and timely tax documentation.
  • Partner with CFO and review financial reporting.
  • Maintain an organized system for key financial records and deadlines.
  • Oversee accounts payable and vendor records, improve visibility into upcoming payments and cash requirements, and ensure appropriate controls around payments and approvals.
  • Provide “CFO-level” insight on the business, including tracking cash flow, basic forecasting and budgeting, flagging issues/trends/opportunities, and creating a consistent financial calendar.
  • Support personal financial planning by providing household cash-flow visibility, simple projections, helping set reserve and liquidity targets, and coordinating with relevant professionals.
  • Act as the financial “quarterback” by serving as the central point of contact among advisors, translating financial concepts, and ensuring tasks and deadlines are met.

Benefits

  • Flexibility on days/times for schedule.
  • $50–$70 per hour DOE (dependent on experience).
