About The Position

As part of Google's BizOps team, the role tackles business challenges by collecting and analyzing data, developing synthesized recommendations, communicating them to senior-level executives, helping drive implementation, and assessing their impact. The Business Data Scientist will help the Business Intelligence Group enable a more data-driven and predictive Global Affairs organization. The role uses machine learning, AI, Google tools and technologies, and the Global Affairs data ecosystem to inform decisions for cross-organization strategic initiatives and improve business operations. In a fast-paced, innovative environment, the role's technical expertise will contribute to shaping Google's AI strategy, particularly in Global Affairs.

Requirements

Master's degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Engineering, or Sciences, or equivalent practical experience.
At least 3 years of experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases, or statistical analysis, or a relevant PhD degree.
Experience developing generative AI solutions at a law firm, in-house legal or compliance department, or within government.

Responsibilities

Support the development and implementation of data-driven solutions, focused on large language models (LLMs) and AI, to address Global Affairs business problems. This includes providing trusted advice to policymakers, building an industry-leading regulatory and compliance system, and protecting the ability to provide high-quality products.
Work with cross-functional teams to address AI/ML challenges and opportunities, particularly by using LLMs for text analysis and knowledge extraction and translating business needs into actionable analyses and evaluation metrics.
Stay current on emerging trends and best practices in data science and business analytics, with guidance.
