BUSINESS ANALYIST

Etactics IncHudson, OH

About The Position

The Business Analyst will be responsible for querying internal SQL databases to investigate operational and product questions, structuring large datasets, and identifying trends. They will build and maintain dashboards in AWS QuickSight, Power BI, and Excel to surface key performance indicators (KPIs). The role involves translating raw data into clear written and visual narratives for various stakeholders. Additionally, the Business Analyst will map current-state workflows, identify bottlenecks and automation opportunities, and analyze data to inform process improvements and strategic decisions. This role also requires partnering with various leaders to gather requirements for new tools and reporting enhancements, translating business needs into functional specifications, and maintaining documentation for data sources and logic. Secondary responsibilities include collaborating with the data infrastructure team, supporting Customer Success with client-level data interpretation, and contributing to internal communications. The role also involves handling sensitive data in accordance with policies and applying data governance practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in a business analyst, data analyst, sales engineering, consulting, or similar analytical role (relevant internships and capstone projects count).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in SQL — able to write joins, aggregations, and window functions against a transactional database without close supervision.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, Power Query, and complex formula work.
  • Hands-on experience building reports or dashboards in at least one BI tool (Power BI, Tableau, QuickSight, Qlik, or comparable).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences and to present recommendations to leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions — collaborating with engineers, operators, and customer-facing teams — and to manage multiple priorities concurrently.

Responsibilities

  • Query internal SQL databases to investigate operational and product questions, structure large datasets, and identify trends across customers, transaction types, and team workflows.
  • Build and maintain dashboards in AWS QuickSight, Power BI, and Excel that surface key performance indicators (KPIs) for engineering throughput, customer support, claim/eligibility/remit transaction volume, and rework patterns.
  • Translate raw data into clear written and visual narratives — reports, briefings, and recommendations — for stakeholders ranging from individual contributors, customers, sales, and the executive team.
  • Map current-state workflows across the organization and identify bottlenecks, redundancies, and automation opportunities.
  • Analyze data from multiple sources to surface patterns that inform team-level coaching and process improvements. Including root-cause analysis on operational issues and recommending evidence-backed remediation.
  • Analyze data from multiple sources to surface patterns in market and customer behavior, including pricing and new markets, to inform and recommend evidence-backed strategic decisions.
  • Partner with Product, Software, Sales, and Customer Success leaders to gather requirements for new internal tools, customer-facing dashboards, and reporting enhancements.
  • Translate business needs into clear functional specifications, acceptance criteria, and user stories that engineering teams can act on.
  • Maintain documentation of data sources, definitions, and dashboard logic to support a shared, governed view of operational truth.
  • Work alongside the data infrastructure team to ensure underlying data feeds (data lake, customer-facing dashboards) are accurate, timely, and aligned with business definitions.
  • Support Customer Success in interpreting client-level data, preparing quarterly business reviews, and identifying expansion or retention signals.
  • Contribute to internal communications by producing the underlying data exhibits and brief analytical write-ups.
  • Handle Protected Health Information (PHI) and other sensitive data in strict accordance with HIPAA and Etactics' internal security and access policies.
  • Apply sound data governance practices — including documented definitions, controlled access, and audit-friendly reporting — to all deliverables
