About The Position

We are looking for a Business Analyst to be a process-focused professional who will improve various business systems for Hampton Lumber Sales (HLS) and other Hampton affiliates. This individual will be responsible for developing a clear understanding of our businesses and related processes, including purchasing, sales order entry, shipments, export documentation, invoicing, cash collections, and more—to work with various teams at Hampton in making our processes more effective and ensuring business needs are met. The individual in this role will interact regularly with sales, sales support, transportation, accounting, IT, and management. The position reports directly to the HLS Senior Director of Business Operations and will be an integral member of the HLS team. This role supports the sales organization at company headquarters and partners closely with managers throughout the sales organization and wholesale affiliates, and with other leaders across information technology, manufacturing operations, and finance. This position is expected to combine strong technical computer science capabilities with practical leadership, strong communication skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, business, finance, or an equivalent field required
• At least three years of relevant experience required
• Experience with Lean and/or Six Sigma required
• Outcome-oriented: Focused on improving defined results and achieving strategic goals, less concerned about creating a perfect solution, and more about “finding a better way every day” and pushing for positive change
• Disciplined in managing scope, priorities, and deadlines, and comfortable holding themselves and others accountable to ensure projects stay on track

• Skilled in business systems optimization and data governance
• Able to map current and future-state process flows and identify inefficiencies or opportunities with respect to people, processes, technologies, and data
• Understand data structures and dependencies, find and mitigate constraints, and work with business leaders to implement effective solutions
• Understand how systems are integrated and connected, identify upstream/downstream impacts, and diagnose breakdowns
• Skilled in quality assurance
• Experienced with user acceptance testing, including designing tests and identifying and resolving defects
• Think like an end user, anticipate potential failure points and work to prevent or mitigate issues
• Write clear user stories, functional requirements, and other documentation
• A strong communicator: Able to translate business needs into technical language, and vice versa, explaining difficult concepts effectively for both technical and non-technical audiences, both verbally and in writing
• Drive adoption of change management efforts with frontline teams, building trust and overcoming resistance through clear communication of vision and value
• Assertive and responsible, exhibiting a high level of professionalism, integrity, and emotional intelligence to build strong working relationships

Nice To Haves

• Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
• ECBA or CBAP certification preferred
• Experience and knowledge creating and developing queries and reports from SQL preferred
• Experience building data models with Power BI, Power Pivot/Power Query, and DAX a plus
• Experience in financial accounting a plus
• Experience within the lumber manufacturing or wholesaling industry a plus

Responsibilities

• Become an expert resource in Hampton’s ERP systems to provide business process support to various groups, including sales, operations, and finance
• Define specifications for new or improved tools and reports based on business user input, and work with internal developers or third-party solution providers to ensure delivered results meet the needs of the business
• Drive continuous improvement within Hampton businesses through ongoing review of processes, personnel, strategic planning, data analysis, etc.
• Lead training initiatives and process improvement projects to further develop knowledge within various teams and execute the implementation of more efficient business processes
• Understand the various business processes of Hampton businesses, including how sales, purchasing, inventory and financial data are managed, reported, and used across the organization
• Ensure accuracy and validity of reporting information for ad hoc business needs and various sales processes, including financial review processes, supply chain management, overall sales development, etc.
• Monitor periodic changes to software platforms used by Hampton businesses, such as new LumberTrack releases, to ensure continuity of existing functionality and pursue use of new technologies that can help improve processes for our teams
• Support execution of business plans associated with operational changes and new business ventures
• Management may modify, add or reallocate job responsibilities to better accommodate the needs of the business
