Business Analyst (CADD/DOT)
About The Position
Business Analyst – Roadway CADD (Transportation Engineering) Must be local to Topeka, KS. Job will be performed remotely, but onsite presence will be required for workshops, interviews and evaluation sessions. Experience: Typically 7–10 years (Strong DOT / CADD transportation experience may offset years) The Role Were looking for a Business Analyst to play a key role in modernizing KDOTs Transportation Engineering CADD system . You'll serve as the bridge between stakeholders, technical teams, and procurement — helping ensure the right system is selected to support roadway design for years to come. This is a high-visibility role where your analysis, facilitation, and judgment directly influence long-term outcomes.
Requirements
- Strong experience in business process analysis and requirements documentation
- Familiarity with transportation engineering and CADD systems (required)
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting public-sector procurement and RFP processes (preferred)
Responsibilities
- Lead interviews and workshops with KDOT staff to capture workflows, pain points, and future-state requirements
- Translate business needs into clear, actionable requirements
- Conduct market research on CADD vendors, capabilities, and industry trends
- Support RFP development, vendor evaluations, demos, and reference checks
- Develop scoring tools and facilitate evaluation sessions
- Maintain clear documentation and provide regular updates to project leadership
