About The Position

Business Analyst Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid) Duration: 12-Month Contract with Potential for Conversion Position Overview We are seeking a Business Analyst to support the continued growth and adoption of a custom-built catering and menu management platform used across multiple Compass Group sectors and brands. This role will serve as a critical bridge between business stakeholders, product leadership, and development teams by documenting business processes, gathering requirements, creating user stories, and helping drive successful platform adoption. The ideal candidate is naturally curious, highly organized, and comfortable working in an evolving environment where documentation and processes are still being established. This individual will work closely with subject matter experts, application users, product leadership, and developers to capture critical business knowledge, define requirements, and translate business needs into actionable development work.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of Business Analyst, Business Systems Analyst, or Product Analyst experience.
  • Proven experience gathering and documenting business requirements.
  • Experience creating user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and functional documentation.
  • Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, ask thoughtful questions, and drive clarity in ambiguous situations.
  • Experience collaborating with both business users and software development teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting custom software applications.
  • Exposure to web-based application development environments.
  • Experience with data analysis, data mapping, or data migration initiatives.
  • Understanding of relational databases and SQL concepts.
  • Experience documenting business processes and operational workflows.
  • Background supporting product teams in backlog management and requirements refinement.
  • Experience using tools such as Jira, Confluence, Azure DevOps, or similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders, product leadership, and application users to gather, analyze, and document business requirements.
  • Facilitate discovery sessions to understand operational processes, workflows, and business needs across multiple business units.
  • Capture and document existing business processes, system functionality, and institutional knowledge currently held by subject matter experts.
  • Create and maintain business requirements documents, process flows, user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.
  • Work closely with Product Owners and development teams to build, refine, and prioritize the product backlog.
  • Translate business requirements into detailed and actionable user stories for development teams.
  • Analyze current processes and identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies.
  • Support data mapping, data migration, and system transition activities where required.
  • Coordinate with business and technical teams to ensure requirements are clearly understood and successfully delivered.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, and review sessions.
  • Develop and execute test plans, test scripts, and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Validate completed functionality against business requirements and acceptance criteria.
  • Monitor project deliverables and help ensure successful implementation and adoption of new capabilities.
  • Serve as a trusted liaison between business users and technical teams throughout the product lifecycle.
