About The Position

This Business Analyst role is funded through a grant from The Gates Foundation. The grant lasts 6 months and funding for this role is tied to that grant. In addition, this role will be responsible for the execution and delivery of grant project initiatives, working collaboratively with cross-functional teams to align these projects with the university's broader strategic goals. This position will provide support to the Operational and Transformational needs of the organization and must be able to work effectively with all levels of customer and peer groups, requiring skill sets in communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship management. The analyst will conduct discovery and intake activities, elicit information, develop recommendations and plans for improvement opportunities. This position will work closely with the assigned business areas to document processes and re-engineer the process for improvement and department efficiencies. They will be responsible for identifying problems and improvement initiatives and owning requirements elicitation and documentation work. Conduct intake and requirements activities, working with IT platform Product Owners to assist with creation and organization of story work and sprint alignment. Analysts will also be responsible for the collaboration and syncing of requirement efforts for cross IT Platform work. Assist with developing Process SOP, techniques, and team development, as well as be a change agent for a Process Center of Excellence and the Analysis Services our team provides. Process Engineers and analysts, at all levels, will be Subject Matter Experts in their assigned business areas and its supporting tools and platforms. They will work with Product Managers/ Owners, and platform teams to stay in alignment with operational roadmaps and prioritized work initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning or equivalent.
  • Minimum five years of relevant work experience in business analysis and requirements elicitation.
  • Experience documenting and managing requirements using multiple methodologies (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, Iterative, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience with one or more of the following; process analysis and design, problem solving, creative thinking, organizational skills, and efficient time management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated in positive interactions at varying levels of an enterprise.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred: Experience in Higher Education and experience with system implementations, administration, and/or management of LMS, CRM and/or ERP.
  • Experience with office productivity platforms such as MS Office Suite and requirements management platforms such as Azure Devops.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a detailed plan for Discovery/requirements gathering, including goals, stakeholders, working sessions, anticipated deliverables and timelines.
  • Lead requirements elicitation, prioritization and documentation from stakeholders using various methods, interviews, document/data analysis, requirements workshops, storyboards, wireframes, brainstorming sessions, surveys, business process descriptions, use cases, scenarios.
  • Create and maintain user stories, technical specifications/diagrams, business rules, data models, etc. as needed to guide technical analysis and solutioning.
  • Communicate requirements to the development & testing teams and facilitate requirement traceability, categorization and management throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Lead and exert influence to create positive change, becoming a trusted team member and business partner.
