About The Position

Falvey Insurance Group is a leading Marine Insurance MGA, emphasizing Technology and Operational Excellence. The Business Analyst role is integral to the group's expansion strategy, focusing on leveraging problem-solving, communication, and process design to enhance in-house software systems supporting underwriting operations. This position acts as an advocate, point of contact, and internal consultant for a primary underwriting line of business, with responsibilities including backup coverage for other lines and general support. The analyst will deeply understand their assigned line of business, becoming embedded to design solutions for daily underwriting challenges, identify process improvements, and represent their underwriting partners to other departments like Software Development, Data Analytics, and Marketing.

Requirements

  • Strong desire to establish relationships and understand the goals, concerns, and objectives of stakeholders throughout the business
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to contextually switch between technical and plain language
  • Experience creating process flows, wireframes, decision trees, other methods of effective visual communication
  • Excellent comprehension skills to efficiently develop a connected understanding of business processes and goals
  • Problem solving skills necessary for this position
  • Bachelor's degree is required

Responsibilities

  • Participating in the design of large-scale strategic projects that impact underwriting lines of business
  • Maintaining an ongoing understanding of assigned underwriting partners' goals, priorities, concerns, and daily processes
  • Conducting Process identification, documentation, and suggesting operational improvements
  • Participating in and coordinating the User Acceptance Testing phase for system updates that impact assigned underwriting lines of business
  • Running regular check-ins with assigned underwriting partners to communicate statuses and confirm priorities
  • Supporting the efficiency of proprietary internal systems through intaking issue submissions (bugs, questions, feature requests, etc.), clarifying the Problem, Impact, and Potential Solutions, following prioritization and process guidelines to determine a solution path, writing Change Requests for internal software development team, and communicating updates and status on individual problems
  • Using Business Intelligence platforms to review underwriting KPI's and data integrity
  • Evaluating project requests in terms of underwriting goals, business goals, and objectives
  • Providing backup analyst coverage for other underwriting lines of business as needed
  • Assisting with general support needs across all underwriting lines of business
