About The Position

The Division of University Relations (UR) builds public awareness, understanding and support for the universitys mission and goals. The division includes the marketing, communications, and public affairs units and embraces an integrated approach to executing best-in-class work that achieves strategic outcomes. Information Technology Enterprise Application Services (IT/EAS) maintains the highest standards in providing a wide range of software solutions to units throughout the University. IT/EAS maintains software systems that support the University’s core business as well as develops custom applications in partnership with DU departments to enhance services to our community. The Business Analyst reports to the IT/Enterprise Application Services (IT/EAS) department in the Division of Information Technology (IT). The Business Analyst is physically located in the Division of University Relations (UR) and works in close collaboration with the teams in IT/EAS and UR. The Business Analyst is primarily responsible for the configuration, administration, and support of multiple marketing and communication applications (e.g. Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Widen Digital Asset Management, Drupal, Cludo, Concept3D, Sprout Social, Meltwater, Google Analytics 4, Google Webmaster Tools, Google Tag Manager, and Google Data Studio), business process needs analysis, and operational data reporting and analysis. This position will interface with UR, software vendors, and IT/EAS application developers to maintain and support applications and interfaces. This position will be responsible for responding to production support issues, coordinating system enhancements and upgrades, writing ad-hoc reports, and managing cross-functional projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in a business analyst position
  • 3-5 years of experience as an application administrator or business analyst
  • Experience with SQL
  • General understanding of marketing and communication practices
  • Knowledge of marketing and communication technologies
  • Strong knowledge of SQL
  • Ability to gather detailed business requirements and analyze business processes and data
  • Ability to perform system administration, configuration, testing, and training
  • Ability to explain technical concepts effectively to a variety of stakeholders and non-technical audiences
  • Basic project management skills
  • Solid foundational understanding of Microsoft Office products Excel and Word

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a functional subject matter expert and primary system administrator of marketing and communication technologies, including but not limited to Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Widen Digital Asset Management.
  • Partner with departmental colleagues and/or serve as backup administrator to support additional marketing and communication technologies, including but not limited to Drupal, Cludo, Concept3D, Sprout Social, Meltwater, Google Analytics 4, Google Webmaster Tools, Google Tag Manager, and Google Data Studio).
  • Identify, gather, and document business requirements from users and stakeholders.
  • Perform configuration tasks to satisfy requests from end users for enhancements and fixes.
  • Work with IT/EAS to coordinate the design, testing, and deployment of system enhancements, process automations, and integrations between these systems, the enterprise ERP (Ellucian Banner), and other systems.
  • In partnership with UR staff, develop test use cases and perform user acceptance testing for upgrades and enhancements.
  • Track and document changes in functional requirements and write detailed procedures that can be easily understood by users.
  • Provide enterprise-wide tier-2 and tier-3 application support. Develop recommendations and coordinate issue resolution with IT/EAS and software vendors. Troubleshoot, identify, and track software issues to ensure resolution. Document and communicate problem resolutions.
  • Oversee user and license management, including new user setup/deactivation, roles, profiles, and permissions.
  • Perform frequent data quality checks to ensure system data is accurate.
  • Analyze and evaluate current business processes, workflows, reports, and tools. Make recommendations for development, improvement, or simplification.
  • In partnership with UR staff, develop appropriate training materials to support end user training.
  • Research, configure, and schedule standardized reports within the applications.
  • Create ad-hoc reports, data queries, standard reports, and dashboards to support business needs.
  • Responsible for multiple projects or large complex projects with cross-functional teams.
  • Primary technology liaison between UR, IT/EAS, and software vendors.
  • Coordinate regularly scheduled meetings with UR and IT/EAS.
  • Partner with UR and IT/EAS teams to prioritize projects using the IT prioritization rubric.
