About The Position

Iowa State University Dining is seeking a Business Administrator III to support business operations, financial reporting, and systems workflows across a multi-unit university operation serving students across campus. Strong internal systems, accurate reporting, and consistent processes are essential to informed decision-making and operational stability, and this role helps ensure they remain reliable and effective. Success in this position includes accurately reviewing transactional data, developing and maintaining financial reports, analyzing data across units, recognizing patterns and inconsistencies, and strengthening processes where improvements are needed. The individual in this role is expected to provide guidance on workflow decisions, reinforce consistent application of procedures, and serve as a trusted resource for managers and leadership. This role also requires initiative and sound judgment. The individual in this position should be comfortable identifying gaps, offering practical solutions, and bringing forward ideas that strengthen systems and workflows while supporting university standards and expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Experience overseeing purchasing, reconciliations, allocations, or other financial transaction processes across multiple accounts or units
  • Experience developing or implementing financial procedures or internal controls, including supporting audits or compliance reviews
  • Experience using Workday (or similar enterprise systems) to review, approve, or manage financial transactions and related workflows
  • Experience building or modifying reports within business systems, applying data logic to improve reporting accuracy and consistency, and using advanced reporting tools such as Power BI

Responsibilities

  • Review, reconcile, and approve transactions within Workday and related systems to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Oversee recurring allocations and cross-unit transactions across multiple operating areas
  • Analyze operational and financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for improved efficiency
  • Develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports that support leadership and unit-level decision-making
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to practical system and reporting enhancements
  • Strengthen internal procedures that support data integrity and consistent application of policy
  • Supervise the Business Administrator I and assigned student employees, setting priorities and supporting professional development
  • Partner with Dining leadership and campus stakeholders to support operational strategy and responsible resource management
