About The Position

Johnston Community College is seeking a faculty member for the Business Education and Technology department to lead students in business administration. This role involves providing a comprehensive educational program focused on quality teaching and student success. The position is responsible for instructing students with up-to-date knowledge and expertise, teaching classes, maintaining administrative records, serving the department and college, and interacting with the local business community.

Requirements

  • MBA with 18 graduate hours in business (BUS prefix) OR Masters’ Degree with 18 graduate hours in business courses (BUS prefix).
  • Minimum one-year teaching college level courses in both seated and online formats.
  • Hands-on business experience.
  • Technologically proficient.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to perform basic math computations.
  • Ability to use effective critical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Proficient in a Windows environment.
  • Knowledge of Office 365, email systems, PowerPoint and Blackboard.

Nice To Haves

  • MBA
  • Three (3) to five (5) years teaching college level Business Administration courses.
  • Online teaching experience.
  • Curriculum development experience.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a full load of business courses in seated, online, hybrid, and accelerated formats.
  • Review, update, and develop the JCC current business curriculum, incorporating current business trends, pathways, and credentials.
  • Attend and pursue professional development opportunities to stay current with content and pedagogy.
  • Engage students in project-based, active learning.
  • Incorporate differences in the business world related to globalization and technology.
  • Collaborate with other JCC programs to create student pathways.
  • Be proactive in recruiting and maintaining relationships with advisory board members.
  • Use technology regularly in the classroom and assignments, mirroring business world tools.
  • Develop additional opportunities for Business Education students, such as clubs, competitions, and guest speakers.
  • Attend college events.
  • Interface regularly with part-time business instructors to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Serve on the interview committee for new part-time instructors.
  • Supervise and mentor adjunct instructors.
