The Bus Monitor will ride buses and help the driver ensure the safe and orderly transportation of students with disabilities. This role requires individuals who can follow verbal instructions, communicate effectively, operate safety and adaptive equipment, and work well with children with disabilities. The Bus Monitor will be responsible for assisting students with boarding and disembarking the bus, managing student behavior, communicating with teachers and parents, learning and adapting to students' individual needs, and following all safety and emergency procedures. Familiarity with bus routes and maintaining schedules is also part of the role. The position involves working irregular hours as needed and requires maintaining emotional control under stress, with frequent physical activity including walking, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and moderate lifting and carrying. The work environment includes indoor and outdoor settings, exposure to vehicles and machinery, and moderate exposure to extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes.
