About The Position

A School Bus Safety Assistant (Bus Monitor) helps the driver transport students safely, manage student behavior, and assist children while they get on and off the bus.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have a valid North Carolina driver's license with a good driving record.
• Must be able to lift at least 20 pounds and help students move on and off the bus.
• Must pass a local and state criminal background check.

Nice To Haves

• CPR and First Aid certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise students to keep order and safety while the bus moves.
• Secure passengers by fastening seat belts, harnesses, or wheelchair clamps.
• Assist children with safe loading and unloading at schools and bus stops.
• Communicate with parents, teachers, and school staff about student behavior or medical needs.
• Know emergency rules and help evacuate the bus during safety drills or emergencies.
• Keep records of student information and route details.
