Bus Monitor - Salem YMCA
About The Position
The Salem YMCA is seeking a Bus Monitor to ensure the safe and positive transportation of children from Salem Public Schools to YMCA programs. This position is perfect for individuals who enjoy working with kids and being part of a supportive team. The program runs from 1:30 pm to 4 pm, Monday - Friday. The Bus Monitor will supervise children on the bus, ensuring safety and positive behavior, assist with boarding and exiting, maintain accurate attendance and incident reports, keep the bus clean and support compliance with YMCA and EEC transportation policies, and communicate with staff, families, and school partners as needed.
Requirements
- Must be at least 21 years old with a High School Diploma or GED
- Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire)
- Ability to enter and exit the bus repeatedly and assist children as needed
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people across the community
Nice To Haves
- Prior childcare or youth program experience a plus
- Prior experience working with children preferred
