About The Position

Requirements

  • Minimum – High School Diploma, equivalent or Head Start parent with 1 year experience working with young children.
  • CDL with passenger and “s” endorsement or willing to obtain CDL with passenger and “s” endorsement within 3 years of hire and reimbursed upon completion.
  • Commercial Driver’s License with PS endorsement must be obtained within
  • Must have a personal driving record with not more than 6 active points as determined by the Secretary of State.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age per licensing regulations.
  • All candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and their own reliable transportation.
  • Complete a physical examination.
  • Comprehensive fingerprinted criminal background check.
  • Pre-employment drug screen including a negative result for Amphetamines, Cannabinoids (including Marijuana/THC), Cocaine, Opiates, and Phencyclidine (PCP).

Responsibilities

  • Assures compliance with Head Start policies and procedures, Performance Standards, Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers.
  • Assists the Driver in providing safe transportation for authorized passengers.
  • Reports to the assigned bus prior to the route.
  • Rides the bus during the route.
  • Completes route paperwork.
  • Assures children are buckled in correctly and safely.
  • Attends to passenger behavior.
  • Assists in ensuring a positive social climate.
