Requirements
- Minimum – High School Diploma, equivalent or Head Start parent with 1 year experience working with young children.
- CDL with passenger and “s” endorsement or willing to obtain CDL with passenger and “s” endorsement within 3 years of hire and reimbursed upon completion.
- Commercial Driver’s License with PS endorsement must be obtained within
- Must have a personal driving record with not more than 6 active points as determined by the Secretary of State.
- Must be at least 18 years of age per licensing regulations.
- All candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and their own reliable transportation.
- Complete a physical examination.
- Comprehensive fingerprinted criminal background check.
- Pre-employment drug screen including a negative result for Amphetamines, Cannabinoids (including Marijuana/THC), Cocaine, Opiates, and Phencyclidine (PCP).
Responsibilities
- Assures compliance with Head Start policies and procedures, Performance Standards, Licensing Rules for Child Care Centers.
- Assists the Driver in providing safe transportation for authorized passengers.
- Reports to the assigned bus prior to the route.
- Rides the bus during the route.
- Completes route paperwork.
- Assures children are buckled in correctly and safely.
- Attends to passenger behavior.
- Assists in ensuring a positive social climate.
