About The Position

This recruitment is for substitute, temporary/as-needed Bus Driver positions only. Substitute work may have varying days and hours depending on need. Positions work split shifts Monday through Friday and require availability from 5:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Under the direction of the Director of Transportation, the Bus Driver operates and maintains school buses to transport students safely and efficiently to assigned locations using designated routes. The role also includes conducting regular safety inspections and preparing records and reports related to assigned activities.

Requirements

• Graduation from high school and sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities required; equivalent combinations are accepted.
• Valid California Class A or B Motor Vehicle Operator's License with passenger transportation endorsement ("S") and air brake endorsement.
• Current DMV printout submitted with the job application; it must be less than 30 days old.
• California Special Driver Certificate valid for school buses.
• Current California Highway Patrol-approved First Aid Certificate, if required on the Special Driver Certificate.
• Current valid DL-51 Medical Card.
• Must be able to be insured and remain insurable by the District's liability insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

• Six months of experience as a school bus driver is preferred.
