About The Position
As a Bus Driver at GISD, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of students during their transportation to and from school and community programs. You’ll provide safe, timely, and efficient transportation services while fostering positive interactions with students, parents/guardians, and staff. This position requires a commitment to student safety, adherence to state and district transportation policies, and consistent modeling of GISD’s Win-Win leadership values. No CDL yet? We’ll help you get there. GISD offers paid training to help you earn your Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with full support from our transportation team. You’ll be paid while you train — and once certified, you’ll step into a meaningful role with competitive pay and benefits.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Valid Michigan Driver’s License with a preference for no points.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with “B” classification , including “P” (Passenger), “S” (School Bus), and air brake endorsements.
- Must pass a physical examination and drug test.
- Demonstrated ability to lift, move, and assist students up to 26 years of age and perform essential job duties safely and effectively.
