About The Position

Squamish Nation is seeking a Bus Driver to join the Ta na wa Ch’awát ta Sx̱wéx̱wel Squamish Valley Operations team within Ḵ'iyáx̱ an Ch'áwch'aw Community Services. This role plays an important part in supporting Squamish Nation members by providing safe, reliable, and respectful transportation to appointments and community destinations. As Bus Driver, you will help ensure members can access essential services while delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Requirements

Grade 12 education or equivalent.
Valid BC Unrestricted or Restricted Class 1 or Class 2 Commercial Driver’s Licence.
Valid Emergency First Aid and CPR Certification.
Minimum four (4) years of safe driving experience, verified through an ICBC Driver’s Abstract.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to relate respectfully to people from diverse backgrounds.
High level of emotional intelligence, professionalism, patience, and integrity.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations.
Strong commitment to confidentiality, safety, and ethical conduct.

Nice To Haves

Experience working in a First Nations environment is considered an asset.
Knowledge and understanding of Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw history, culture, customs, land, and people is an asset.

Responsibilities

Safely transport Squamish Nation members to and from appointments, including medical, dental, mental health, specialist, and other essential services.
Follow assigned schedules and routes with dependability and professionalism.
Maintain accurate records of route changes, pick-up and drop-off information, and transportation activities.
Adhere to all provincial traffic laws, local bylaws, and transportation regulations.
Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections in accordance with ICBC requirements.
Perform routine vehicle maintenance checks and support upkeep of the bus and other department vehicles.
Maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly environment for all passengers.
Report accidents, incidents, and vehicle concerns promptly and accurately.
Support health screening and transportation-related record keeping as required.
Follow workplace health and safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to department goals and service excellence.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
