About The Position

Help connect the community to recreation opportunities by providing safe and reliable transportation for recreational programs across Boise. This part-time role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with people, supporting community activities, and delivering excellent customer service while operating City vehicles. This position is open to applicants age 19 and older who possess a valid Class B CDL with Air Brake Endorsement and works up to 19 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Valid Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement with two years bus driving experience.
  • Knowledge of Bus safety practices.
  • Relevant rules and regulations related to a Class B CDL.
  • Ability to safely operate bus with children and staff aboard.
  • Ability to navigate to various areas of the City.
  • Ability to display an attitude of cooperation and work harmoniously with all levels of City employees, the general public and other organizations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance.
  • Ability to complete assignments in a timely fashion.
  • Ability to understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations.
  • Ability to maintain prompt and regular attendance.
  • Ability to perform all essential and marginal functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.
  • Valid Class B CDL with Air Brake endorsement.
  • Applicants must be able to pass City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation.
  • Applicants must be able to pass a Driving Record Check.
  • Persons in this position must have a CDL that can handle a vehicle designed to transport 16 or more passengers, including the driver.

Responsibilities

  • Provides transportation for all ages to and from outdoor programs, playcamp locations, and other recreation activities as assigned.
  • Ensures safety of all passengers while being transported.
  • Adheres to scheduled pick up and drop off times.
  • Performs basic safety inspection of vehicle to ensure it is safe to operate.
  • Performs routine cleaning inside vehicle.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
