About The Position

The primary purpose of this role is to provide safe and efficient transportation for students, enabling them to fully benefit from the district's curriculum and extracurricular programs. This position is open until filled.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED
Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
Passenger & School Bus Endorsements
Ability to work with children, administrators and public

Responsibilities

Operate a school bus on a regular or special education route.
Provide safe and efficient transportation for students to and from their respective schools.
Perform a daily inspection of their assigned vehicle prior to operation.
Be responsible for the safety of children while under supervision.
Communicate with schools, the public and the students in such manner as to encourage their cooperation and respect.
Turn in all necessary daily reports properly filled out.
Drive the bus route exactly as designated and approved by the Texas Education Agency. No changes in routes or bus stops may be made without the specific consent of the Director of Transportation.
Identify and report to proper authorities any student involved in disciplinary or vandalism acts while riding the bus.
Observe all traffic and safety laws, rules and regulations.
Work closely with and cooperate with the Shop Supervisor and his staff.
Provide the Director of Transportation with any and all reports and pupil counts as requested.
Attend drivers’ meetings and trainings each school each year as scheduled and as needed and requested.
Know all emergency procedures. Know what to do in case of an accident.
In any emergency on the road or route, call immediately the transportation office at 632-3211.
Clock in and out as scheduled.
Keep vehicle clean at all times.
Observe safety procedures at all times in performing duties.
Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).
