About The Position

This position is responsible for the safe and secure transportation of inmates/detainees. The Bus Driver will conduct pre- and post-trip inspections, ensure all necessary paperwork is completed, and maintain custody safety and security of offenders/detainees during transfers. The role also involves adhering to traffic laws, maintaining vehicle sanitation, promoting positive social skills, and complying with all relevant Federal, State, FMCSA, and DOT regulations.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 23 years of age.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clear MVR for three (3) years.
  • Valid CDL (required) with the Passenger (P) endorsement.
  • Must have a DOT Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse record.
  • Required to maintain specific State and Federal licenses due to contractual agreements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts pre- and post-trip inspections on all vehicles and submits written Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).
  • Reports all potential safety defects to the Transportation Supervisor.
  • Ensures all necessary paperwork for inmate/detainee transfers is completed in accordance with LaSalle’s Transport, LLC. (LCT, LLC.) policies, procedures, and contractual agreements.
  • Provides custody safety and security of offenders/detainees during transfers between agencies.
  • Reads, reviews, and properly applies information from inmate records related to health, safety, and facility security, and provides appropriate information to other personnel.
  • Obeys all applicable traffic laws, drives at posted speed limits, and wears safety belts.
  • Drives facility vehicles in a safe and defensive manner according to policy and procedures.
  • Ensures the sanitation of transport vehicles by cleaning after every transfer and maintaining a log.
  • Promotes the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed.
  • Maintains accountability of staff, inmates, and property; adheres to safety practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities.
  • Complies with Federal, State, FMCSA Regulations and DOT Regulations.
