The Bus Driver transports children from local schools to the YMCA facility for afterschool programs and safely back home. The role helps children transition from the school day by creating a familiar, supportive, and safe transportation experience. The driver follows YMCA transportation policies and applicable state and local codes, maintains a timely and accident-free route, and ensures the vehicle and its equipment are properly maintained and kept clean. The driver communicates and reinforces passenger safety rules, builds trust with children and families, completes vehicle-use logs and incident or accident reports, and adapts to changing schedules, routes, and program needs. The position also collaborates with program coordinators and staff to support a smooth transition from transportation to afterschool activities. The schedule is Monday through Friday between 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., approximately 10–15 hours per week, with opportunities for additional hours on earlier snack runs and field trips when school is not in session.
