About The Position

The YMCA is seeking a dedicated part-time Bus Driver to join their team. This role involves the safe and reliable transportation of children participating in afterschool programs. The hours are flexible, Monday through Friday, from 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm, with opportunities for additional hours on snack runs and field trips. The Bus Driver will ensure a positive and supportive environment for the children during transportation.

Requirements

Valid Class B CDL driver's license with passenger endorsement
Clean driving record
Genuine passion for working with children
Must be able to pass a background check
Uphold YMCA values (honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring)

Nice To Haves

Prior experience as a bus driver, particularly in a school or childcare setting

Responsibilities

Transport children from local schools to the YMCA facility for afterschool programs and back home safely.
Ensure the safety and security of each child throughout the transportation process.
Comply with YMCA transportation policies and state and local codes.
Conduct the route in a manner that maintains timeliness and is accident-free.
Ensure the proper maintenance and use of equipment, supplies, and materials.
Maintain the appearance of the vehicle, both interior and exterior.
Connect with families and manage all passengers effectively.
Communicate and positively reinforce passenger safety rules.
Complete the vehicle use log after each route.
Accurately complete incident/accident reports in accordance with staff training.
Adapt to varying schedules, routes, and the dynamic needs of the afterschool program.
Maintain a calm and patient demeanor in unexpected situations.
Collaborate with program coordinators and staff to ensure a seamless transition for children from transportation to program activities.
