About The Position

The Northwest School is an independent day and boarding school. We serve students in grades 6 to 12 on an urban campus in Seattle's Capitol Hill neighborhood. We are currently hiring for (1) .75 FTE leave replacement Bus Driver for the remainder of the school year & will end 5/31/2026.

Requirements

  • All candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the schools mission, values, and philosophy, especially related to diversity and the environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least seven (7) years licensed driving experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and at least three (3) years licensed driving experience.
  • Three (3) years of commercial driving experience (school bus driving is preferred).
  • Commercial Drivers License, Class B with an S Endorsement and Air Brake and Passenger Endorsements.
  • Clean driving record.
  • Enjoy working with adolescents, aged 11-18.
  • An ability to work both independently and as a productive member of a team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in written and verbal form.
  • Submit and pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screening and DOT physical screening; on-going random tests required per DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Transports passengers over scheduled routes to and from school and/or field trips in a safe and timely manner; events and programs may include games, practices, scrimmages, activities, tutoring, and field trips.
  • Provides safe loading and unloading of all passengers from buses during regular transport and emergency situations.
  • Maintain communication with faculty regarding field trip changes and procedures.
  • Provide basic fleet maintenance, including fueling, washing, daily pre-trip and minor repairs as well as documentation of mileage, fueling and maintenance performed on vehicles and all safety- related concerns to Manager of Transportation in a timely manner.
  • Must be reliable, attendance during regular business hours or as needed is important
  • Participate in meetings when requested.
  • Follow the personnel policies of The Northwest School as outlined in the Faculty Handbook.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned to this position.
