About The Position

The Bus Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of students to and from the designated school. This role ensures a secure and orderly environment on the school bus and promotes a positive relationship with students, parents, and school personnel through excellent customer service and professionalism.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid South Carolina Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with school bus (S) and passenger (P) endorsements.
Clean driving record and ability to pass background and drug screening requirements.
Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to student safety and well-being.
Ability to remain calm and professional in emergency situations.
Knowledge of basic vehicle safety checks and preventative maintenance practices.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one year of commercial or school bus driving experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Safely operate a school bus along assigned routes, including to and from school, field trips, and extracurricular events.
Ensure the safety and discipline of all passengers by following established procedures and protocols.
Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure operational safety and cleanliness.
Maintain accurate records of routes, times, student attendance, and any incidents or maintenance concerns.
Report any mechanical issues, safety concerns, or accidents promptly to the Transportation Coordinator or designated supervisor.
Monitor and adhere to all federal, state, and local traffic laws and transportation regulations.
Provide courteous and professional communication with parents, students, and school personnel.
Assist students in boarding and exiting the vehicle as needed, particularly young children or students with disabilities.
Attend all required training sessions, safety meetings, and professional development programs.
Maintain current and valid licensure and certifications in accordance with state and district requirements.
Any other duties as assigned.
