About The Position

The School Bus Driver Trainer is responsible for training, coaching, evaluating, and supporting school bus drivers and transportation personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant student transportation operations. This position provides classroom instruction, behind-the-wheel training, safety education, and operational support while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, local, and district transportation regulations. The School Bus Driver Trainer plays a critical role in developing driver competency, improving transportation safety performance, supporting new driver recruitment and retention efforts, and reinforcing operational accountability standards across the district.

Requirements

Must possess a valid CDL (Commercial Driver's License) with P (Passenger) and S (School Bus) endorsements.
Minimum of 3 years of experience as a school bus driver.
Proven experience in training, coaching, or mentoring roles.
Knowledge of federal, state, and local transportation regulations.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to develop and deliver effective training programs.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

Experience as a bus driver trainer or in a similar instructional role.
Certification as a driver training instructor.
Familiarity with student transportation management software.
Experience in curriculum development.
