About The Position

Starling Community Services (formerly Lutherwood) is a progressive, not-for-profit health and social service organization that strengthens people's lives by providing mental health, employment, and housing services to more than 22,530 people annually in Waterloo Region and Wellington County. One part-time permanent Bus Driver-Retirement Living Community position available, starting on July 13, 2026, working 22.5 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Possesses a valid B driver’s license and a current clean driver’s abstract and a minimum of 3 years’ bus driving experience.
  • Must have strong communication skills and be safety conscious, reliable, and punctual.
  • Ability to lift mobility equipment up to 50 pounds.
  • Leads with curiosity and holds space for continuous learning, growth, and development.
  • Possesses good judgement and demonstrates patience, empathy, good listening skills and a genuine commitment to the wellbeing of seniors.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Accessibility for All Training under the Canadian Transportation Agency is preferred.
  • Experience working with seniors or similar role is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operates an accessible bus to support residents with transportation to appointments, activities, shopping, and other outings.
  • Welcomes residents and assists them with securing their bags, walkers, and wheelchairs prior to travel.
  • Logs passenger pickup and drop off information to ensure their safety and security.
  • Communicates with residents regarding Village bus schedules, engages positively with passengers, and delivers excellent customer service.
  • Ensures a clean and safe operation of the vehicle.
  • Ensures safety and maintenance of the vehicle and takes vehicle for maintenance and repairs as required.
  • Works intentionally from an anti-racist, anti-oppressive perspective to further create a sense of belonging at the Agency.
