About The Position

Key School is seeking a full-time Bus Driver and Facilities Assistant for the 2026-2027 academic year. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving on field trips, athletic events, summer camp and other transportation requirements. The Bus Driver and Facilities Assistant will perform routine bus inspections, ensure the proper function and safety of the vehicles driven, as well as taking the buses for maintenance and or repairs. The position also helps with minor facilities work when available. It is expected that all Key School employees will be warm, welcoming, helpful and respectful to all students, faculty, staff, parents and guests. The position is responsible to perform all job related tasks in a manner that exemplifies Key School standards. This position may require some occasional evenings and weekends.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years.
  • Excellent driving record, with no moving violations for the past 5 years.
  • Possess a valid CLASS B Commercial Driver’s License and (CDL) with passenger endorsement and school bus endorsements.
  • Minimum of 3 years of driving experience.
  • Ability to Communicate effectively with a diverse student body.
  • Pass pre-employment drug and background screenings, and continued random drug screenings as required by law.
  • Must be a “team player”.
  • Must be reliable, responsible and able to work independently.
  • Must be able to work occasional evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. and sit for long periods of time.
  • Siting for extended periods of time while operating buses.
  • Reaching, pulling and pushing to open doors.
  • Bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching to inspect and wash buses.
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling adaptive equipment and students.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1-3 years experience driving school aged children preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Driving assigned trips in a safe, efficient and responsible manner.
  • Ensure the safety of passengers on, near or around buses.
  • Ensure that all passengers obey the rules of the bus.
  • Maintain buses, including cleaning interior, washing exterior, taking vehicles for repairs or inspections.
  • Obtain driving and parking instructions prior to trip departures.
  • Re-fuel vehicles prior to trip departures.
  • Light Facility maintenance when available/required.
  • Arrive on campus with sufficient time prior to any trip to perform Pre Trip inspection and any related paperwork or familiarization with maps and directions to destination.
  • Ensure proper maintenance is performed and alert his supervisors when maintenance is required.
  • Supportive, respectful and engaging with faculty, staff and students in all aspects of a trip.
  • Committed to ensuring the timely arrival and departure of each trip.
  • Perform facility related requests or responsibilities whenever possible.
