About The Position

Bus Driver Assistants work under the direction and supervision of the Bus Driver, Transportation Director and Principal. Experience working with children and adults is preferred. Responsibilities and duties include: Assists the bus driver in maintaining proper school conduct on the bus. Assists disabled students in getting on and off the bus and maintaining a safe environment while on the bus. Assures that students get on and off the bus in an orderly manner. Places students in wheelchairs safely on and off the wheelchair lift. Operates and checks the wheelchair lift daily. Locks wheelchairs in place securely and fastens seat belts around students. Pay rate is recommended by the Superintendent and presented to the Board of School Trustees effective July 1.
