About The Position

As a technician on the buried drop team, you will physically install buried copper, fiber, and coaxial cable from the network hub to customers’ residences. You will use technical expertise and customer focus to connect customers with valued products. This is a safety-sensitive position and follows a union bidding process. Overnight travel, including out-of-state travel, may be required based on business needs.

Requirements

Ability to walk more than one-half mile while operating a drop plow that places service cable.
Ability to work a schedule that includes overtime, callouts, and standby as needed.
Basic technology and math skills.
Ability to distinguish colors in color-coded cable.
Ability to lift and carry up to 70 pounds.
Ability to successfully complete required training, including overnight out-of-state travel.
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record.
Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT physical.

Responsibilities

Physically install buried copper, fiber, and coaxial drop cable to connect Kinetic’s network to customers’ residences.
Use technical expertise and customer focus to create meaningful connections with customers.
Interpret work drawings and instructions and complete necessary paperwork.
Sell and promote Kinetic products and services.
Train new employees on daily job functions.
Use a handheld computer to retrieve and clear job tasks.
Locate underground facilities, including gas, power, and communication lines, as applicable to job tasks.
Operate machinery, including trenching and boring equipment, to bury cable.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
