About The Position

The Bulk Specialist is responsible for the successful operation and profitability of the Bulk Department as well as providing support to the Grocery and Dairy/Frozen departments, with an emphasis on perishables, as required. This position has limited Department Manager responsibilities. Customers are greeted and serviced per company standards of World Class customer service. All assistant department managers are expected to be professional at all times and provide appropriate leadership for the staff and the store. Leader effectiveness requires treating people decently while at the same time successfully motivating them toward high performance in their work. Customer complaints are handled appropriately and per company policy. The department is clean and well stocked. Products customers want to buy are in-stock. Special orders are handled appropriately and per company policy. Bulk products are ordered on the proper replenishment day using the SAP program. Stock levels meet store sales. Promptly and correctly shrinks out damaged and expired product using SAP. Special orders are placed promptly. Mark-downs are managed per company standards The Bulk Specialist is responsible for tagging, stocking, rotating, facing, Cleanliness, and Back stock, overall providing a positive customer experience. Supports store opening and closing activities including Daily Sales Report (DSR) and cash handling and cashier closeout responsibilities. Responds to cashier needs for manager over-rides. Ensures that customers are waited on in a timely manner and per company standards of excellence in customer service. Responds to calls and handles customer complaints and customer returns as needed. Covers cashier lunches and breaks as needed. Work schedule is based on store needs which will include evenings and weekends. This position is to never be left as the overall Manager on Duty for the store. Although this is a general outline of job responsibilities all employees are expected to be “hands on” and do whatever it takes to get the job done and make the company thrive.

Requirements

  • Previous retail experience in a grocery or retail environment.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Possess a sense of urgency in the completion of tasks.
  • Ability to pass applicable food safety training courses and/or certifications as required by state and/or county law and maintain compliance by keeping certifications up to date and registered with the appropriate agency if applicable.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Highly organized with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to stay focused with the task at hand.
  • Ability to take direction and follow through.
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
