About The Position

The Bulk Manager at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, packing, and stocking of all bulk foods featured at Sprouts. This role involves following the merchandising Bulk plan, ensuring the team properly packages and scales bulk items, fills bulk bins, and prepares, wraps, and prices bulk packages accurately and legibly. The manager is also responsible for ordering and maintaining inventory, rotating product using code dates, and adhering to the company’s cleaning and sanitation program. Additionally, they must oversee the department’s compliance with all company and governmental safety, health, Weights & Measures and COOL compliance regulations. The position requires providing a high level of customer service, ensuring the Bulk area is clean and orderly, and receiving, unloading, and stocking merchandise. A key aspect of this role is engaging and evaluating team members through coaching, feedback, and one-on-one development discussions, including making recommendations for merit increases and completing bi-annual performance reviews. The Bulk Manager will also attend and participate in in-store meetings, recruit and hire team members, and make promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager. They must confidently exercise independent judgment to address Team Member concerns and take and document corrective actions when needed, including managing performance through coaching, counseling, progressive discipline, suspension, or termination in collaboration with business and HR partners. Ensuring maximum productivity and efficiency by creating and adjusting schedules and staffing levels is also a core responsibility. The manager will communicate standards, expectations, policy changes, and product knowledge to team members and lead a team that collaborates to deliver the finest quality of product, highest level of service, and the greatest customer experience. Finally, the role may involve serving as a Key Carrier for the store and/or acting as a Manager on Duty (MOD) as needed.

Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have 1- 2 years of experience in a retail grocery environment
  • Have 1 year of managerial leadership experience
  • Be dependable and reliable
  • Ability to work flexible schedule that changes; including night, weekends, and holidays
  • Expected to know weekly ad items
  • Able to give customers direction of product location throughout the store
  • Does general housekeeping in the department
  • Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule that changes as the business changes, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Possess a working knowledge of personnel reports, margin reports, weekly sales numbers, and financial goals
  • Have and show outgoing and friendly behavior along with a positive attitude towards Team Members and customers
  • Able to move vertically/horizontally transferring product weighing up to 50 lbs., from 4” to 36”, for a distance up to 4 feet for up to 15 hours without mechanical assistance
  • Requires continuous standing for up to 4 hours, for a total of 8 hours per shift
  • Able to perform other related duties as assigned

  • Regularly attending and participating at in-store meetings
  • Recruiting, hiring and making promotion/transfer decisions in collaboration with the Store Manager
