About The Position

The Bulk Foods Clerk sets up and maintains the department according to company standards, including bulk food bins and machines such as honey and peanut butter dispensers. The role supports product quality and selection, provides friendly and courteous service to internal and external customers, and performs related duties as assigned. Shifts generally last 6–8 hours and fall between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m. The clerk handles freight and stocks products in barrels and dispensers, oversees the coffee area, maintains bulk-food machines, keeps work and sales areas clean and appealing, and helps customers locate products. The role also requires maintaining a safe and secure workplace and performing duties honestly and with integrity.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years of age.
Food Handler certification, as required by state law.
Ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Ability to communicate with customers, receive orders, upsell, and perform customer-relations duties using hearing, speech, and oral and written communication skills.
Ability to conduct visual inspections and read and follow guides, recipes, and product labels.
Ability to reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects weighing approximately 20–30 pounds frequently and 30–50 pounds occasionally, from floor level to overhead.
Ability to push and pull hand trucks, carts, and pallet jacks containing products of substantial weight.
Ability to stand, walk, and move rapidly for extended periods; bend, stoop, twist, climb ladders, and turn frequently.
Ability to perform safe, quick movements and operate related equipment with manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Ability to work with potential hazards related to equipment, tools, and work aids.
Ability to use cleaning chemicals and handle related food products.
Ability to wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other required personal protective equipment.
Ability to perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers while maintaining a friendly, enthusiastic customer-service atmosphere.
Break down freight by moving products, placing them in inventory, and operating a forklift as needed.
Stock products in barrels and dispensers, including retrieving and moving products, opening boxes, and placing products in the correct locations.
Oversee the coffee area, including grinding coffee, making coffee, and stocking supplies.
Maintain machines such as honey and peanut butter dispensers by loading products, cleaning machines and surrounding areas, and maintaining container supplies.
Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
Help customers find products and use suggestive-selling techniques.
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the work area, storage area, and sales floor.
Clean work areas by mopping, sweeping, and removing trash and garbage.
Perform duties honestly and with integrity.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
