About The Position

The Bulk Foods Clerk sets up and maintains the department according to company standards, including bulk food bins and machines such as honey and peanut butter dispensers. The role helps ensure product quality and selection and provides friendly, courteous service to internal and external customers. Other related duties may be assigned. Generally works 6–8 hour shifts between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., although the position requires the ability to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

Be at least 16 years of age.
Hold a Food Handlers Certification as required by state law.
Be able to work varied shifts in a 24/7 operation, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Communicate with customers through hearing and speech to receive orders, upsell, and perform customer-relations duties.
Conduct visual inspections and read and follow guides, recipes, and product labels.
Reach, lift, stack, and maneuver objects of varying dimensions and weights: approximately 20–30 pounds frequently and 30–50 pounds occasionally, from floor level to overhead.
Push and pull hand trucks, carts, and pallet jacks containing substantial product weight.
Stand, walk, and move rapidly for extended periods; bend, stoop, twist, climb ladders, and turn frequently.
Make safe and quick movements and operate related equipment with manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
Perform basic arithmetic, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
Demonstrate interpersonal skills through oral and written communication.
Work around potential hazards associated with equipment, tools, and work aids.
Use cleaning chemicals and handle related food products.
Wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other required personal protective equipment.
Perform primary duties efficiently and accurately.

Responsibilities

Welcome, engage, serve, and thank customers while maintaining a friendly, enthusiastic customer-service atmosphere.
Break down freight, move products, place them in inventory, and operate a forklift as needed.
Stock product in barrels and dispensers, including retrieving and moving product, opening boxes with a cutter, and placing product in the correct location.
Oversee the coffee area by grinding coffee, making coffee, and stocking supplies.
Maintain machines such as honey and peanut butter dispensers by loading product, cleaning the machines and area, and replenishing containers.
Maintain a safe and secure work environment.
Help customers find products and use suggestive-selling techniques.
Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the work area, storage area, and selling floor.
Clean the work area by mopping, sweeping, and removing trash and garbage.
Perform duties honestly and with integrity, as well as other duties as assigned or needed.
