About The Position

The Bulk Clerk is responsible for maintaining the bulk area in the store, ensuring it is clean, attractive, and easy to shop while adhering to merchandising standards. This role involves stocking, rotating, and facing bulk products, paying close attention to product quality and expiration dates. The clerk will also receive and unload merchandise, check its quality and condition, and communicate any issues to management and the merchandising team. Maintaining accurate pricing and signage, ensuring customer special orders are handled correctly, and demonstrating excellent product knowledge are key aspects of this position. The clerk must also handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy and participate in inventories. A crucial part of the role is to notify management of any situations impacting customer service, safety, productivity, or security.

Requirements

Excellent knowledge of products throughout the department.
Understanding of culinary terminology, product labeling, and common dietary restrictions.
Ability to continue learning.
Ability to lift and carry 1-10 pounds continuously.
Ability to use arms, hands, and wrists continuously.
Ability to grasp/squeeze continuously.
Ability to reach at/above shoulder continuously.
Ability to reach below shoulder continuously.
Ability to lift and carry 11-20 pounds frequently.
Ability to push and/or pull 1-80 pounds frequently.
Ability to bend/stoop frequently.
Ability to twist frequently.
Ability to lift and carry 21-50 pounds occasionally.
Ability to push and/or pull 1-40 pounds occasionally.
Ability to crouch/squat occasionally.

Responsibilities

Stock, rotate, and face bulk products with attention to product quality and expiration dates.
Ensure the bulk area in the store is clean, attractive, easy to shop, and adheres to merchandising standards.
Receive and unload merchandise; check quality, count, and condition.
Communicate any issues to management and the merchandising team.
Maintain accurate pricing and signage that meets merchandising standards.
Ensure customer special orders are accurately placed and delivered.
Demonstrate excellent knowledge of products throughout the department and understanding of culinary terminology, product labeling, and common dietary restrictions, with skills to continue learning.
Handle damaged and spoiled products according to company policy.
Maintain cleanliness, organization, and rotation of all areas, products, and supplies.
Participate in inventories.
Notify the Department Manager or Manager on Duty of any situations relating to customer service, safety, productivity, security, or any other situation that may hurt the store.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned.
