About The Position

This position is responsible for floor care at LYNX facilities and for performing a variety of maintenance, repair, and custodial services at LYNX bus stops, transfer centers, transit/passenger amenities, and facilities. This position takes directions from a facilities maintenance manager, supervisor, or lead. Incumbent in this position is eligible to participate in the Bloodborne Pathogen Program. As a member of a bargaining unit, this position follows a seniority-based system for bidding on shifts and days off. LYNX provides the community with much needed public transportation, and it is important for the Agency to resume its services as quickly and as safely as possible in the event of any natural, technological, or human-caused emergency or disaster. This position is considered a mission critical member of LYNX’s emergency preparation and response efforts during an emergency or disaster and as such, requires 24-hour availability in the event of an emergency or disaster.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED
1 year of custodial experience including floor care
6 months of painting experience
Valid Florida driver’s license + clean driving record
Ability to work independently, follow directions, and communicate effectively
Commitment to excellent customer service
High School diploma or General Education diploma (GED); plus
One year of full‐time experience performing custodial work to include floor care; plus
Six months of experience painting the interior and exterior of buildings, or a combination of related education, experience, and training.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license and safe driving record.
Knowledge of basic lawn maintenance and associated tools.
Knowledge of custodial and floor care methods, materials, equipment, and safety procedures.
Ability to work with minimal supervision; must be self‐motivated and able to work independently.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with those encountered in the course of work using principles of excellent customer service.
Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.
Ability to work in a diverse environment.

Responsibilities

Operate and maintain heavy floor‑care equipment
Sweep, scrub, strip, and polish floors; shampoo carpets
Perform light maintenance: replace bulbs, basic repairs
Support upkeep at bus stops and shelters: lawn care, trimming, trash pickup
Help set up rooms and move furniture for special functions
Paint interior and exterior spaces
Work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
Operates and maintains heavy floor care equipment used in work.
Performs basic preventive maintenance services and lawn maintenance around bus shelters and bus stops (trims trees, edges, and picks up trash).
Sets up furniture and prepares rooms for special functions.
Moves and arranges furniture and office equipment.
Replaces light bulbs and fluorescent tubes.
Paints interior and exterior of facilities.
Performs other duties as may be required or assigned.
