About The Position

The City of Dickinson is seeking a hands-on maintenance professional to join their team as a Buildings & Grounds Operator. This role is responsible for maintaining and enhancing community spaces, including facilities, equipment, and outdoor areas. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two years of buildings or grounds maintenance experience preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Valid driver’s license
  • ND Class B CDL (permit within 3 months; full CDL within 6 months, with air brakes and automatic transmission)
  • Vector Control Certification (Public Health) (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Commercial Pesticide Applicator Certification (Ground Core, Right of Way, Ornamental Turf) (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)
  • Forklift and Bucket Truck Certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire)

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and minor repairs on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and boiler systems
  • Apply chemicals for vector and weed control programs
  • Maintain City cemeteries and public properties
  • Operate heavy equipment for groundskeeping and snow removal
  • Complete routine and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment
  • Assist in training new and seasonal team members
  • Participate in on-call rotation as needed
